10 on 10 | August 2013

Friday, August 9, 2013
Whew!  It's been a crazy month, so picking just 10 photos was realllllly hard this time around.  But I decided to mainly focus on our trip to Washington state (Whidbey Island and Lynden) to visit my extended family.  It was gorgeous, as always.  One of my very favorite places and this trip sure didn't disappoint!

The beautiful summer flowers have been in bloom, so I've gotten some fun floral macro shots too lately that I just couldn't resist sharing. :)

By this time next month I'll be in Chicago, starting my big Chicago adventure, so that will certainly be a big change around here!

Friday Macros | May 17, 2013

This Friday was quite an adventure!  I innocently went out to take some photos and it was like a zoo!  Bees all over the place - I was so scared I was going to get stung - and then a spider spinning his web right there in front of me!  Neither bees nor spiders are exactly critters that I generally enjoy, but it was a fun photography challenge for sure!  They move so fast, it was so hard to focus!

Friday Macros

Friday, April 19, 2013
Friday Macro images are quickly becoming a tradition for me.  After a long week at school, I just love to come home, get out my camera (which has often gotten buried under other stuff all week long) and head outside to explore my neighborhood in search for some pretties in the afternoon light.  It's such a creative release for me, a time to let go of everything from the week and just focus on the beauty around me and the technicalities of my camera.

The trees have leaves again, which I love!  I love the way the light shines through the leaves and they glow. :)

And I got a Lensbaby a few weeks ago, but I haven't played with it a lot yet.  Focusing with this thing is HARD, but it is a good kind of challenge.
(For the non-photographers among us, a Lensbaby is a type of lens that produced the blurry edges around the photos above)

Happy weekend, friends!

March Macro Challenge - Candy

Thursday, March 21, 2013
Back in January, I started a monthly Macro Challenge.  January's theme was "kitchen utensils" and I came up with this one:

I totally skipped out on February, but I'm back in for March's theme of "candy!" I mean, who doesn't love a good excuse to buy candy?!

And as I was cleaning up, I stacked the dishes up and then thought "Hey, these look really cool!" So of course I had to take a picture!

Friday afternoon's dose of flower macros

Friday, March 1, 2013

Well, those flowers I bought myself back before Valentine's Day lived an amazingly long time, but they are finally dying.  Amazing how dying flowers are still beautiful though!

Be Loved

Monday, February 25, 2013
February...  The month of love.  Some people might think that a single woman in her mid 20's would dread Valentine's Day, but that's so not true for me.  I may not have a husband/boyfriend/fiancee, but I have plenty of love that I am glad for a chance to celebrate.

Mostly, though, I took this holiday as a chance to celebrate the love of my Heavenly Father.  His love is like none other and I am so thankful for the peace, comfort, and joy that it brings me.  On days when I feel alone, He opens my eyes to the beauty that he's created all around me.

My beloved speaks and says to me:

“Arise, my love, my beautiful one,

    and come away,
11
for behold, the winter is past;

the rain is over and gone.
12
The flowers appear on the earth,
the time of singing has come."

Song of Solomon 2:10-12

New

Monday, December 31, 2012

I was cleaning out some old files on my computer and found these shots from last spring. They got buried and were never even edited! Just goes to show how easily beauty can be overlooked!  Perfect for a brand new year!

Bio

Hi, I'm Megan.

I got a film point and shoot camera for my twelth birthday, and I've been in love with freezing time via photography ever since. I took several photography classes in high school and college, and finally purchased my first DSLR in March 2012. Now I am on a journey, learning everythng I can about this adventure called photography. There is so much to learn! Thank you for caring enough to follow along with my journey!
