Sanctuary

I have a thing for church sanctuaries. I think it's because I grew up in so many of them, and they are all beautiful in completely different ways. And because there are just so many little beautiful details in them. The symbolism is wonderful. So whenever I get the chance, I like to photograph them. Here are some images from a weekend spent at Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis.

13 Favorites from 2013

I can't believe 2013 is over already and we are already well into a new year!  What a year '13 was!  Photographically, it was a huge year of growth for me.  I spent much of the year studying light, and while I recognize the growth I've made in understanding and using light well, I still see so much more room to improve.

I've seen some of these "13 Favorite images from 2013" posts around by some of my friends and I just love looking at them, so this afternoon I set out on a journey through my Lightroom catalog to choose thirteen favorites.  But I underestimated how hard that would be, of course.  As it turns out, I just can't do it.  As I went through and marked my favorites, I came up with still over 70!

So I decided to narrow it down to 13 Macro/Fine Art photos, excluding the real life moments that I love capturing as well.

To me, Fine Art images are ones that I can see other people hanging on their walls.

So here they are, my favorite Macro/Fine Art images from 2013:

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Psalm 8:3-4, 9

Sooooo...  I moved to Chicago!  If you haven't heard, I'm doing a Year of Service here through a program with my church.  It's pretty exciting - and I would love it if you'd all follow my blog for that - there will probably be a lot more posts (and pictures) over there than here for the next year!

Anyways, I was super happy to find out that my new house is right down the street from an awesome conservatory!!  So of course I spent my first free afternoon in the city at the conservatory with my camera and macro lens!

Once again, this post is a part of a blog circle with my friends from Light Inspired, so pretty please follow the circle around to the next post from the lovely Cindy when you finish with mine!

xoxo

Bio

Hi, I'm Megan.

I got a film point and shoot camera for my twelth birthday, and I've been in love with freezing time via photography ever since. I took several photography classes in high school and college, and finally purchased my first DSLR in March 2012. Now I am on a journey, learning everythng I can about this adventure called photography. There is so much to learn! Thank you for caring enough to follow along with my journey!
